On January 23, 2025, Ghana Re proudly hosted its 16th Cedants’ Awards Night Ceremony at the prestigious Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra. The theme for the ceremony was “ESG Excellence: Building Resilient Insurance for Future Generations.” The event brought together Management, staff, industry players, seasoned insurers & reinsurers and guests for an evening dedicated to celebrating excellence, commitment, and outstanding performance of our Cedants and Brokers.
The Deputy Managing Director, Finance & Administration, Mr. Lawrence William Dodoo opened the ceremony with introductory remarks, followed by a welcome address/introduction of Guest Speaker by the Deputy Managing Director, Technical, Mr. Esenam A. K. Dzirasa. The Guest Speaker for the occasion was the Commissioner of Insurance, Dr. Abiba Zakariah.
Speaking on the theme, the Managing Director of Ghana Re, Mr. Seth Kobla Aklasi stated that the Company is firmly committed to an ESG-led strategy, which is essential for a sustainable market. Environmentally, he called for a shift from traditional risk management to responsible underwriting that addresses climate change. Socially, he noted that while Ghana Re is strengthening capacity building and technical support, greater efforts are needed to advance financial inclusion and extend insurance protection to the most vulnerable. On governance, he emphasized that transparency and regulatory compliance must remain foundational, supported by data-driven frameworks to ensure prompt claims settlement.
Mr. Aklasi emphasized that the Awards Ceremony is not only a celebration of achievement but also a reaffirmation of our shared vision and unwavering partnership.
Each awardee was recognized for exceptional contributions that significantly impacted the Company’s growth and success during the year under review.
