Mr. Esenam Agbenorxevi Korsikuma Dzirasa is a professional insurance practitioner with 23 years of experience in insurance, specialising in life underwriting and product development, with a strong focus on risk management and corporate strategy.
Mr. Dzirasa started his working career with the Ghana Statistical Service as an Assistant Statistician assigned to the Social Statistics Department in 2001. He later joined the Vanguard Assurance Company Limited in 2002 as a contract staff and was assigned to the Nationwide Health Insurance Unit, under the Life Department.
In November 2003, he joined the then State Insurance Company Limited (SIC) as an Insurance Officer with the underwriting unit of the Life Department. He later joined SIC Life Company Limited (now SIC Life Insurance LTD) in 2007, when the Life Department was decoupled from SIC Insurance Company Limited and established as a fully-fledged Life Insurance Company.
He was the Deputy Head of the Underwriting Department, where he masterminded the streamlining of underwriting activities and institutional relationships. He rose through the ranks to the position of Head of Corporate Planning & Research Department, (where he oversaw the Company’s Corporate Strategy, Budget, Technical Reports, and Research). He was later assigned to the Premium Administration Department of the Company (responsible for the billing, collection, and allocation of premiums and loan recoveries), as the Head.
He has over Twenty-three (23) years of experience in the insurance industry out of which Twenty-two (22) years was with SIC Life Insurance LTD (with 16 years as a Management Member). He has played a pivotal role, with his exemplary leadership, in shaping the technical structure of SIC Life Insurance LTD.
He holds a Master of Science degree (MSc) in Financial Risk Management from the University of Ghana, Legon and a Bachelor of Science degree (BSc) in Mathematics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi – Ghana. He also holds a Diploma in Insurance and Risk Management from the West African Insurance Institute (WAII), The Gambia, a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Insurance from the Malta International Training Centre (Ghana Insurance College Affiliate), a Certificate in Budgeting and Financial Management from GIMPA and a Certificate in Development Finance from Corporate Support Group Limited, Ghana.
He has attended several local and international courses and seminars which include “Developing Strategic Skills for Organisational Improvement” (RIPA International, UK), “Comprehensive Life Assurance Programme” (National Insurance Academy, Pune – India) and “Integrated Financial Planning, Budgeting, Risk Management and Internal Controls” (Hackle Brooke Conference Centre, Johannesburg – South Africa).
He has also attended the one-year Bullet Proof Manager Training Series programme organized by Crestcom International, the three-module Leadership Development Series by StratAfrique and Corporate Mindset Revolution and Leadership Training by Train2inspire Consultancy GH Ltd.
He has served on various committees at the Ghana Insurers Association (Finance, Premium Administration, and Underwriting/Claims – Life) and at SIC Life Insurance LTD, including the Technical Committee – the highest decision-making Committee on Technical issues.
As an insurance professional, Mr. Dzirasa is a Chartered Insurer and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII), UK and the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (ACIIG).
