Mr. Jonathan K. Kwakye

Jonathan K. Kwakye is a seasoned reinsurance executive with over two decades of experience in the insurance and reinsurance sector, specializing in Marine, Engineering and Property Insurance. He currently serves as the Head of International Operations (Anglophone) at Ghana Reinsurance PLC, where he is responsible for driving international business strategy, strengthening partnerships, and overseeing underwriting operations across Anglophone markets.

Jonathan began his career at Ghana Re in 2003 as a Finance Officer. His leadership potential and technical expertise quickly earned him progressive promotions, first as Acting Head of Business Development in 2011 and then as the substantive Head in 2012. He has since risen to lead the International Operations Anglophone Department, applying his deep market insight and client-focused approach to grow Ghana Re’s global reach.

Jonathan holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Marketing from University of Ghana and a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com Hons) degree from the University of Cape Coast. He is also a Chartered Insurer (CII-UK) and a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG).

Recognized for his academic excellence, Jonathan received the highest scholastic award at the West African Insurance Institute (WAII) in 2005 and has earned several accolades from the Ghana Insurance College.

As a regular speaker and facilitator at both local and international reinsurance seminars since 2006, he is committed to knowledge-sharing and industry development.

Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys teaching.
