Ghana Re is committed to protecting all personal data it holds irrespective of where its offices are located.
We recognize that the lawful and correct treatment of personal data is very important to successful operations and to maintaining our business partners’ data and confidence. Any personal data which we collect, record, or use in any way whether it is held on paper, on computer or other media will have appropriate safeguards applied to it to ensure that we comply with local data protection regulations and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable.
Ghana Re ensures compliance with the Data Protection laws of Ghana and will periodically verify that this Privacy Notice is accurate, comprehensive for the information intended to be covered, prominently displayed, and is completely implemented and accessible.
What will we do with your information?
Personal data will not be used for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except where required by law. Personal data will be retained only if necessary for the fulfilment of those purposes. As a reinsurance broker Ghana Re may collect and use relevant information about insureds to assess the reinsurance risk and seek the reinsurance market support.
This information may include the insured’s details such as their name, address and contact details and any other information that Ghana Re collects about them in connection with the reinsurance cover. This information may include more sensitive details such as information about their age, gender, race, ethnic origin, health, and employment.
To enable Ghana Re to use an insured’s details in accordance with applicable data protection laws, the Ceding company must obtain consent for the use of the person’s data and provide those with certain information about how their details related to the reinsurance cover will be used. Any consent required will be deemed as received by the Ceding Company prior to Ghana Re handling any business placement for the cedant.
Ghana Re is committed to using only the personal information needed to assist with the reinsurance placement and restricting use and access to the data by concerned personnel. To achieve this, ceding companies should only provide Ghana Re with necessary information re request to proceed with the reinsurance placement.
When using the public parts of our website you are not required to provide us with any personal information, except when you expressly submit such information, for example to send a job application form to us. We do not monitor or collect any personally identifiable information from you on your use of the public parts of our website.
Our monitoring may track the number of visits to the site or a particular page, but this tracking will not identify an individual user.
